Nice work, Doctor Warlock!
I'm not sure about the Tinker rule though. How does one to three minutes translate into game turns? Perhaps Repair would be more straight forward.

I don't know who could do this. After all, CD have their hands full with various 7TV characters. They'd be better off sticking to appropriate figures, such as, I don't know, Dr Andros and his army of apes, as mentioned in the rulebook.  ;)

I will admit, I have a VERY soft spot for a simian.

Chimps were a running gag with my old RPG crowd of whom Helena was a part - and the inclusion of Professor Andros and his hirsuite henchman are certainly a reflection of that!

However, I'll be honest, we don't have any immeadiate miniature plans for them - despite a personal deep desire to produce some :)

I might be able to twist Graeme's arm into doing a head sprue - but NO PROMISES - and unlikely to be before summer 2012.

Meanwhile, keep up the good work my ape-brothers.

A Head sprue would be immense, you only really need one sprue of three - Gorilla, Chimpanzee, and Orangutan - minor greenstuffing and variations in painting would be more than enough!

As for Bodies, you don't JUST have to think the Movies (the original Movies that is) - in the Original Story we see a high tech society - its a couple of ape Astronauts (Jinn and Phyllis) that pick up the message in a bottle floating in space, left by Ulysse Mérou (the Taylor character in the Book) - so you could happily do Apes in Space Suits for a start.

In fact Rod Serling's (yes the Twilight Zone guy) original POTA Script showed the Apes having a high-tech society, much like Blade Runner - tall tower blocks and flying Cars.

The Apes in the Book wear 20th Century Clothing, so much like the (not) "Surprise" Ending in the POTA Re-Make - so that's easily doable, just need to do something about the shoes. In the movies they are wearing hand-shaped boots, in the book they wear thick gloves on their feet.

Of course, the most OBVIOUS choice would be to use the Minion Bodies (the 'Ray' gun is easily shaped and modified into a Machine Gun btw) - and do scenarios involving Apes in Jump-Suits/Boiler Suits ala Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.

We need a bald scabby Mutant Head sprue too!

OK, 1.02 of the Ape Extras, The Gorillas Brawl should be 3+ not 2+ as it stated before.

I've also added "Also Starring" Options for the Chimpanzee Scientist and Orangutan Bureaucrat. I was going to do something similar for the Gorilla Soldier - but I couldn't think what, and was wondering whether the Leader upgrade was enough?

Rather than clutter the page up with multiple posts/pictures I've amended the reference above.

I STILL can't find the files I did for Characters, I shall have another search tonight!

I was thinking that the use of the TimeLift had caused rifts in time/dimensions and had opened a two way portal into the Ape world.
I am planning that project Albion would go through first to investigate and then the Apes would come through to steal tech etc
Just need the Apes

I have 7ombietv now so why not.

my ultimate dream Apes V Zombies

just think how hard zombie apes would be, no where would be safe, they could climb over walls and fences so easily.

The Apes could send infected apes through the portal as revenge. not sure my not scooby doo team could cope with that.

A Planet of the Apes Timeline

This Timeline has been hashed together for two reasons, to make sense of the Original Movies and TV Series (I’ve ignored ‘Return to the Planet of the Apes’ – the animated series has far too many incongruities to fit it into the time-line comfortably, the Gorilla Army has fricking Jeeps and Tanks FFS) and also to create a gaming environment that allows for more choices than Ape vs Primitives (with the odd astronaut) or Ape vs Mutant. I used project ‘Tic-Toc’ as both POTA and the Time Tunnel are FOX Properties, but it could quite easily have been the Time Lift Project (or both for that matter).

So feel free to add/change/edit etc, as you see fit!

(Circa 3978)

Having launched on a space mission in 1972, astronaut Taylor splashes down on a strange world in the late 40th century and is taken captive by talking apes. He befriends chimp scientists Zira and Cornelius, discovers it was Earth all along, and disappears into 'The Forbidden Zone'. (As seen in Planet of the Apes - 1968)

Astronaut Brent’s spaceship crash-lands in The Forbidden Zone. He tracks down Taylor in an under city run by bomb-worshiping mutant humans. After apes seize this ‘Alpha-Omega bomb’ they kill Brent and mortally wound Taylor, whose final act is to detonate it and destroy the entire planet. (As seen in Beneath The Planet of the Apes - 1970)

(Circa 3978 then back to 1973)

The Ape visitors rapidly become celebrities, but the paranoid Dr. Hasslein comes to the conclusion that Cornelius and Zira are the harbingers of a future in which the fall of mankind is guaranteed, and that the only way to prevent that future is to destroy the two apes and their unborn child., but not before Zira gives birth to baby Milo, who is hidden away. (As seen in Escape From the Planet of the Apes - 1971)

(Circa 1974)

The changes created by both the presence of Cornelius and Zira in the present day, and project Tic-Tocs attempts to “re-set” the future so man does not lose his dominance over the planet earth causes a scism in the time-space continuum – creating two distinct time lines – in the new time-line the Apes begin their rise to dominance much faster than before. Both time lines run parallel yet independent to each other.('Going Ape' Timeline Expansion)

(Circa 1975+)

The US Government realizing the future fate of the Human race decide to take Action, Project ‘Tic-Toc’ abandoned in 1968 after the loss of Doctors Anthony Newman and Douglas Phillips is re-funded and research into Time Travel begins again, this time with the intention of avoiding man’s fate at the hands of the Apes and the Mutant ‘Cult of the Divine Bomb’. ('Going Ape' Timeline Expansion)

(Circa 1980 then forward to 3085?)

The ANSA spaceship Daedelus encounters a time warp whilst approaching Alpha Centauri on August 19, 1980. The date on the ship's chronometer is March 21, 3085 but it is possible that the chronometer could have simply stopped at that point whilst the ship was still travelling. The two astronauts, Colonel Alan Virdon and Major Peter J. Burke return to their ship to check the date reading on the ship's chronometer. They find they are more than 1000 years in the future from the year they left Earth. Virdon insists on retrieving the ship's flight log in the hopes that they will be able to analyze it and be able to return to their own time period, presumably he either knows that project Tic-Toc will be looking for them or he hopes to launch the craft in an attempt to find the time warp that brought them here.

Virdon and Burke – who launched in 1980 – never mention the story of Zira and Cornelius. Even if the media of their time ultimately reported that the evolved chimps from the future were a hoax, one of them would remember the press coverage and put two and two together.

That they don't seems purposeful on the writers' part: Virdon and Burke don't mention Zira and Cornelius because that event never happened in the universe the astronauts come from- further illustrating the two divergent time lines.

Skip a few years into the future, an aged Galen kept a journal of his time with Virdon and Burke, revealing Virdon and Burke's final fates: "They found their computer in another city and disappeared into space as suddenly as they’d arrived” – in reality, they never returned to their own time. (As seen in Planet of the Apes The TV Series - 1974)

(Circa 1982)

Several Teams of Armed specialists are sent through to the year 3978 through the Time Tunnel, in an effort to change the fate of planet earth, the teams were never retrieved or heard from again. ('Going Ape' Timeline Expansion)

(Circa 1991)

During the 1983 plague, hundreds of thousands of Cats and Dogs died, and hundreds of thousands more had to be put to death to stop the plague's spread. The virus affected not only dogs and cats, but also caused the accelerated evolution of apes (and, less dramatically, the de-evolution of humankind) – to deal with the constant civil unrest America has now become a fascist state in which the evolving apes are a slave race.

Milo, having been raised by kindly circus man Armando, unites with his slave-ape brothers and renames himself Caesar, before leading the ape revolution. (As seen in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes - 1972)

(Circa 2001)

Caesar’s ape community welcomes human survivors of nuclear war and against his will they become treated as second-class citizens. War breaks out between human and ape, leading to a truce.  (As seen in Battle for the Planet of the Apes - 1973)

(Circa 2670)

Humans and apes are co-existing peacefully. But what does the future hold for them? A crying statue of Caesar suggests a dark and ominous future. (As seen in the Battle For The Planet Of The Apes prologue & epilogue  - 1973)

This is great, i love the seperate time lines did you get this from Terra Nova?

I used to have the planet of the apes comics but my mom decided to throw them away but keep my look and learn and speed and power because they had educational value! but are now worthless compared to how much those comics would be worth.

Several different Websites, my own knowledge, the Books/Novelizations/Comics - and Starlog (the bit about Galen reminiscing about Virdon and Burke getting home was from a Cable TV Intro Segment that never got used).

The new Movie, Rise - kinda fits in well. It could be the origin of the Plague that wipes out the Cats and Dogs, eventually de-evolving man, and (obviously) kick-starts the evolution of the Apes.

I haven't included it though, I stuck with the original Movie & Series as much as possible.

Right here is my first attempt at an ANSA Astronaut - I used the Datapad Astronaut, gave him Darius' pistol - I greenstuffed the hand a little to make it more bulky like a glove - I know what "purists" are going to say, why is he carrying a gun - my response is wtf were the ANSA thinking sending unarmed men to an Alien Planet, give them firearms FFS you don't know what the Animal Life is like where you are going!

UNLESS of course the weapons were in the packs that the primitive humans looted and trashed - we will never know . . .

Hairy Tweedy head (I shall use the bearded Minion head for the other), and I filed down the squared off cuffs, and the crest off the helmet so it looks a little more different to the regular suits.

I magnetized both the head and the helmet, for variety during play - and magnetized the hand for further variety (so he can seemingly carry the helmet).

Next Up - Gorilla Soldier Minion

99.9% of the time I use Coat d'arms "Tank Light Grey" instead of white, it's much better for clothing.

It is so pale most people assume it is white !  :)

I'm a firm believer in research, dig deep enough its amazing what you can find.

I think the corkscrew etc would be on the Swiss Army knife stored in the part of the pack that's off screen LoL!

Did you know Taylor's ship is NOT called the Icarus, that name was first used by the Planet of the Apes historian/fan Larry Evans - and it kinda stuck and was made even more permanent when it was used on a model, and was later used in MR Comics' "Revolution on the Planet of the Apes".

In actuality the ship had no-name, but the owners of the POTA Franchise have dubbed the ship "Liberty One" in the 'ANSA Public Service Announcement' bonus feature from the Blu-Ray Planet of the Apes Box-Set (which was released in November 2008) which first included the new name: "This is the Liberty 1 - a winged chariot that will propel man into the greatest adventure ever conceived. Built to withstand the pressures of near-light speed travel, the Liberty represents the technological crown jewel of the ANSA fleet."

Freaky Huh?

Re the RPG, that depends whether the ANSA has a fully military arm sent on missions!

Here's ANOTHER interesting (and slightly spooky) factoid - I included project "Tic Toc" in the gaming background, below is project Tic-Toc's emblem -

In Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, there was an organization in charge of the training and control of Apes "Ape Management" - below is the Ape Management emblem -

http://planetoftheapes.wikia.com/wiki/Ape_Management

It seems the Fox was re-using elements from its other IP's, but how fricking weird is that, I swear I didn't know till this evening - I could have seen it and not realized what it was, keeping it in my subconscious I suppose.

If you turn the logo a certain way, it actually looks like and Ape face to me LoL!

Posted by: Doctor Warlock, December 9, 2011, 2:10am; Reply: 59
OK, although on the same lines - something a bit different.

The Start of the personnel for the ANSA - rather than just do Taylor, Landon etc - I'm doing them as Character Templates, with specific Characters later on.

I myself (for example) plan on having a Team Leader based upon Bruce Campbell (if you haven't seen it yet, give Alien Apocalypse a try - its a riot, kinda Army of Darkness meets Planet of the Apes meets Starship Troopers LoL).

Awesome DR warlock  im told there is female conpanion comming soon inthe comics for Bruce
Ash is making his return to continue his fight against the Army of Darkness. With a new series debuting in February, it looks like he won't be fighting alone.

The opening story arc introducing "Lady Ash" will last 4 issues, after which we're going to put the focus squarely on "our" Ash and see how he's been faring. Don't get me wrong, "Lady Ash" does figure into what's to come, so hopefully we'll get a chance to bring her back. I have the story arc for the first year of AoD planned out in my head, it's just up to fans of the book to support it so that we can tell the whole story.

Depends on who does the painting sometimes a bad paintjob can kill a mini. I can understand why the sorta take pics like this

Actually, I like Reaper's presentation.  I'm being invited to buy a mini, not a paintjob.  As Brummie says, a bad paintjob can kill a mini (see Blue Moon Productions, for example), and a good paintjob can make me overestimate the quality of the mini.  Undercoat (or black wash, as, say, Hasslefree does) is neutral.

Kinda true, all of Studio Miniatures stuff is stunning on the website - but the Zed casts I have are rough as monkeys

The "not" Alice was about the best, and she was dodgy in places.

The paint-jobs are like false advertising really.

Rod was a great Sculptor, I have tons of the Star Mogul minis and my Asteroid miners made the Alpha Forge Gallery pages  :)

Before anyone worries, I haven't forgotten about this - I've done profiles for Cornelius, Zira, and even Galen - I just haven't had much spare time with everything going on in the "real world" and doing the Zombieville Post.

Here is my first Gorilla test, before you post anything I KNOW the bandanna is over the wrong shoulder LoL - I didn't realize though till I started painting him. I had to make some tough choices with the colours too, in the movie the leather tabards are pretty much the same colour as the Gorillas skin, which is too dark to look 'right' on a miniature. So I did the tabard dark, and made the skin more brown - so sue me LoL

The rifle isn't quite "right" but in Beneath the Planet of the Apes, a couple of the Ape Gorillas have Machine Guns - so I can live with that.

It was an armed Minion body, with the "ray-gun" look filed down and shaped to make it look more like a Machine Gun, and Ape failed Experiment head, the mouth greenstuffed to look more ape-like, and hair scuplted around covering the ears and the back/sides of the neck.

Lastly, hair was sculpted onto the back of the hands.

It's OK for a first attempt, I'm sure the others will look better.

I can't and I readily admit it . . . .

I was thinking of the Copplestone Cavemen, as the primitives - anyone got any other suggestions.

Also, after playing a couple of games - its apparent that there has to be a ratio for the Humans (like in 7ombie TV) - its looking like no more than a third of your men should be Astronauts, or it just gets too easy for the Humans to win.

I love Andy's ideas and productivity, but his style is a bit too cartoony for me.

I thought our minion bodies would make easy Simian Soldiers...
