I don't know if this will be any interest to you gents. I've been asked to build a modular steamer for casting. I know steamers don't feature much in 7TV,  but I thought the build process may be of some interest. It might be useful for some other projects! Maybe an evil warlords yacht?

The idea will be to build one hull as a base and then have a few different bits and pieces to glue around it to give slightly different configurations.

For inspiration I'm using Damas' astounding steamer thread on LAF. He's also giving me some technical advice on where I'm going wrong

This is only one half so far. You start off with a base and a deck and add ribs to give contours.

Then add a couple of layers of plastic sheet. Bits at a time. The top layer, I've imbossed rivets on to look like steel plate.

I'm interested. I've had a plan to build a super villain's yacht/ exploration vessel for a while now, but haven't grasped the nettle yet.

The modular bits and pieces is a good idea.

That is very clever! Was the decking plasticard bought like that or did you add the decking texture afterwards?

Thanks chaps!

It's all just plain plastic card Mike. I've inscribed a kind of wooden texture on to it. I did the same on my wee Trojan Horse. There's a tutorial on it in this mate. Right at the end.

That's looking reet grand. I'd certainly think about getting one once it's in production.

Cheers chaps!

I a couple of complaints over on the LAF that the shape of the hull was a bit too speedy looking for a steamer! So-oh,  I've started again with a more stubby style shape!

I've also built a wee turret for a more militarised ship.
