Graham Crowden is dead.

He was of course the excellent villain Soldeed in 'The Horns of Nimon', a part who anyone who's ever seen it will be hard pushed to forget. I know he did other things but his over the top crazed Ming tribute manages to match Tom Baker's irreverent best, and really steals the show – and that's saying something in a story with Janet Ellis and a Minotaur in HUGE platform shoes. Genius, and one of my favourite bad guys in the series ever.

"He had scurvy and rickets, and was covered from head to foot in festering sores. All in all he was quite the most ghastly apparition of a man I had ever seen."
"I see, and who exactly was this poor unfortunate?"

"That's you that is."

I couldn't agree more. I have the happiest of memories of watching this story.

'Oh Lord Niiiimon'.

I must confess, I've never seen Nimon.  However, his turn as the History teacher in Lindsay Anderson's If is seared onto my mind.  Brilliant stuff.

RIP Graham - no longer 'Waiting for God'  but hopefully fully installed on 'HMS Paradise' unless St. Peter's stopped him getting through the pearly gates thanks to the 'Very Peculiar Practice' he shared with Peter Davison

Of course, there's the three series of Nebulous for Fans to enjoy as well  - Sir Ronald Rowlands character lampooning so many of the incompetent government ministers of the Pertwee era

Michael Gough is dead.

He had some great Doctor Who connections as he was of course the Celestial Toymaker in 1966's The Celestial Toymaker and also Councillor Hedin in Arc of Infinity. He was also married to Anneke Wills (Polly) for a while and to cap it all cult-TV-wise was Dr Armstrong in the Avengers tremendous episode The Cybernauts. Not Doctor Strangelove at all, then. And he was in Batman as Alfred. Plus he was 94, so he can't complain.

Or 95. Apparently he didn't actually know what year he was born. A sad loss.
